Oklahoma Grants Parentage to Sperm Donor Over Nonbiological Mom

In a case with horrible implications for LGBTQ families, an Oklahoma judge has ruled that a married, nonbiological mom has no parental rights to the child she and her wife created and were raising together, but the couple’s sperm donor does. WNBA Star Candace Parker Cites Wife and Kids as Reason for Joining Aces

WNBA star and two-time Olympic gold medalist Candace Parker announced yesterday that she is leaving the Chicago Sky to join the Las Vegas Aces, citing her wife and kids as reasons for the choice. This got me thinking about the reasons families move—including anti-LGBTQ climates.

onePULSE Foundation’s Legacy Scholarship Applications Due 1/31

Applications for scholarships from the onePULSE Foundation, created to honor those killed in the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting, are due January 31. Any high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student at an accredited institution is welcome to apply, LGBTQ or not.

HRC’s Kelley Robinson Talks Family, Fighting Back, and the Future

Kelley Robinson, the new president of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), is the first Black, queer woman to lead the organization. She’s also the mother of a toddler. Being a mom and wife is “the center of everything I do,” she told me in an interview about her family, her work, and her vision for the future.
