Happy Birthday: Mombian Is 9

On this day in 2005, when my son was two, I launched a blog “dedicated to providing relevant, useful, and just plain fun reading for lesbian moms.” Now my son has just graduated from elementary school, and both he and this blog have led me places I wouldn’t have imagined nine years ago. Thanks to all […]

Let’s Meet in D.C.!

I’m heading off today to our nation’s capital for the 2014 LGBT Media Journalists Convening in Washington D.C., hosted by the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association and sponsored by the Evelyn and Walter Haas Jr. Fund. We’ll be networking and discussing the theme of “Honing Our Game” — but we’ll also be having a party on Saturday night, and you’re invited!

Going to Creating Change? See You There!

I’m heading off this week to the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Creating Change conference in Houston, Texas. I’ve never been there before, so I’m pretty excited — doubly so because the city happens to be run by a lesbian mom, Mayor Annise Parker. If you’ll be there, too, please leave a comment!

Welcome, New York Magazine Visitors!

A big welcome to any and all of you visiting from the New York magazine site, where Senior Editor Charlotte Cowles interviewed me about this blog and my perspective on being a lesbian mom.

Welcome, Visitors from the New York Times Site!

If you’re visiting here for the first time, welcome! I was surprised and delighted to see a reference to Mombian today in a New York Times article about Mary Bonauto, the intrepid lawyer who led the fight for marriage equality here in my home state of Massachusetts. I know traffic is up because of it, so I want to extend a special greeting to new visitors. Here’s a little more about the site and an invitation to the yearly blogging event here in June.

Join Me in Philly This Weekend!

I’m off to the City of Brotherly (and Sisterly) Love this weekend for the 2013 LGBT Media Journalists Convening. The theme of the event is “coalition building,” and we’ll be discussing topics such as aging, immigration, race relations and the labor movement. Amidst the serious stuff, however, will also be some partying, and you’re invited.

See You at Creating Change In Atlanta?

I’m so excited. I’m heading off this week to the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Creating Change conference for the first time while my spouse holds down the fort at home. If any of you are going, too, please feel free to drop me a note so we can say hi and plot a lesbian mom takeover of the universe.

Mombian Named a Top Pregnancy Blog of 2012

Babble, that parenting wonderland, has named Mombian one of its Top 20 Pregnancy Blogs of 2012. I’m honored by the accolade and humbled to be in such good company. A full list of honorees is after the jump.

Be Social!

The best part of running this blog is being part of the larger community of LGBT parent bloggers online. I thought I’d take a moment, therefore, to remind readers that there are several ways to stay in touch with Mombian across the various online channels where you might hang out:
