Deer Sounds

Linda Perry and Sara Gilbert Release Children’s Album

Musician Linda Perry and actor Sara Gilbert, who welcomed a son last February, have just released Deer Sounds, a children’s album that’s fun, rockin’, smart, and won’t make you want to pluck your ears out like some kids’ music. Watch a video of the lead song below.

All Genders Welcome Aboard the Rainbow Train

Transgender and gender nonconforming children, their families, friends, and peers have something new to celebrate: a new children’s CD about gender diversity with great music and exuberant lines like “You don’t have to be just a boy or a girl/You can be a beautiful blended swirl.”

The first song, “This Train,” is a beautiful metaphor about social justice that people of all traditions should appreciate. And for extra-special lesbian goodness, it’s the song of hers that Ellen DeGeneres said was her favorite, according to a blurb on Silver’s Web site.

Lesbian Motherhood: Now with Soundtracks

Two books about lesbian moms in the past month, and both have soundtracks? Bestselling author Jodi Picoult’s new novel Sing You Home comes bundled with a “companion soundtrack” CD, with lyrics by Picoult and music composed and sung by her friend Ellen Wilber. Each chapter, or “track” is named for the associated song. It makes sense
