Sick Days

TissuesOne of the perils of parenting is that when my son gets sick, it’s like a train heading down the tracks towards me. I take care of him as best I can (although at 14, he’s pretty self-sufficient) until the train overtakes me.Now I’m down with the same flu-ish fever/cold/sore throat thing he’s had—during February vacation week, no less. (And yes, we had our shots.) Posting will therefore be light for a few days. If you haven’t read some of my recent longer pieces—on religious exemption laws and foster care/adoption and the state of LGBTQ children’s literature—this would be a good time to catch up. I may also find the energy to share some stuff on Facebook and Twitter. Please join me—I’m not contagious there!
