GLAAD Honors Children’s Media, Bloggers, in Media Awards

GLAADAs a GLAAD Media Award winner (Outstanding Blog, 2012), I’m always excited to see the new crop of nominees. This year includes not only a number of terrific bloggers, but also a brand-new Outstanding Kids & Family Programming category—which speaks volumes just by its existence.

The GLAAD Media Awards “recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community and the issues that affect their lives.” How wonderful, then, to have so much children’s programming meeting that requirement that GLAAD can form a category. The nominees for Outstanding Kids & Family Programming—some episodes, others full series—are:

  • Andi Mack, Disney Channel
  • “Chosen Family,” Danger & Eggs, Amazon
  • “The Emergency Plan,” Doc McStuffins, Disney Channel (about which more here)
  • Steven Universe, Cartoon Network
  • The Loud House, Nickelodeon

The nominees for Outstanding Blog are:

Here’s the full list of nominees in all categories—and below is a video put together by Mark King of My Fabulous Disease, honoring all of the nominated bloggers. That sense of community is why I love blogging. Congratulations to all.
