Mega-retailer Target’s online catalog is featuring a real-life two-mom family modeling its holiday pajamas, and one of the moms has kindly shared a little for Mombian readers about their experience doing the photo shoot.
Becky Evan (the taller mom) is a training and operations executive at Target, and lives with her wife Vicki Evan and their two boys in Minneapolis. She told me that the company put out an open call to team members asking them to model the family matching pajama for Target.com. She explained:
I was excited to sign up me, my wife, and my two boys. We were selected and really honored to show off our sweet family in pajamas on Target.com. For our photoshoot, everyone was so kind and wonderful and truly honored our family, from the styling prep to the final photo selections. Being able to bring myself, and my whole family, to work is one of the biggest reasons I continue to work at Target. They have always been so wonderful with allowing me to live my life out and open at work and in the community.
My boys are three and five and just thought this experience was so much fun. On set, there was staff that spent time getting to know our family and providing entertainment to the kids while on set, including on the photo set. Their smiles were pure joy at seeing a puppet show, hearing horns, and jokes from the staff. I know I keep saying it was so much fun, but it really was a fun experience!!!
They modeled two sets of pajamas, one with stripes and one with tiny little gnomes (which look like Christmas trees from a distance). She also tells us, “They were amazingly comfortable. The stripped ones felt like my favorite t-shirt material. And the gnomes are so warm … which is Minnesota is a necessity in winter.”
The ads are only the latest example of the company’s commitment to supporting and including the LGBTQ community.
If you want to show your stripes or go gnomes for the holidays, too, you can buy the pajamas at the links above.
