Book CollageLooking for books, videos, or music albums for your children that feature LGBTQ families? Want some memoirs by LGBTQ parents or our adult children to read yourself? Need a guide to this adventure we call LGBTQ parenting? A book on LGBTQ-inclusive schools? Baby books? Check out my revamped Mombian Shop, which has spiffy new organization and even more items!

Please note that this is my curated and annotated list of books, videos, and music for and about LGBTQ families. It’s not meant to be a comprehensive list of every LGBTQ-inclusive kids’ item in existence; a few older ones felt dated now, and a few I thought were problematic for one reason or another. I hope to have found a balance of items that are enjoyable and cover a range of topics and situations for LGBTQ families (although there are plenty of perspectives and topics that still need stories). I have not included the growing number of young adult books about LGBTQ teens, but have instead focused on books for children and youth with LGBTQ parents. (I’ve made a few exceptions for elementary- and middle-grade books that feature LGBTQ characters of those ages.)

For more details on most of the books, see my lengthier reviews in the Books for Kids and Books for Parents categories of the blog. Remember, too, that although these books are great for kids of LGBTQ parents, they’re also terrific for kids of other types of families as well. It’s always good to read about families both like and unlike one’s own.

Finally, note that the videos I list at the Mombian Shop are available for sale via DVD or streaming. if you’re looking for free, online videos for and about LGBTQ families, check out the YouTube playlists I’ve organized, with over 250 videos, including short films, educational videos, commercials featuring LGBTQ families, family profiles, and more.

Feel free to leave comments about other items you think I should list in the Mombian Shop. Please note that I won’t list anything I haven’t evaluated myself, so if you’re an author, filmmaker, or musician, feel free to contact me about sending a review copy of your work.

Whether you buy copies for your family, borrow them from the library (or encourage your library to stock them), happy reading and listening!
