One of the parents-to-be, Nicole Opper, is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker who may be best known to readers here as director and producer of the 2010 feature documentary Off and Running, which tells the story of Avery, a Black teen who had been adopted as an infant by two White Jewish lesbians. Opper now turns the camera on herself and Kristan in The F Word, a short, comedic documentary series that will be broadcast in six minute episodes on PBS’ Indie Lens Storycast starting September 14.
