“Families Like Yours” Film about LGBT Families Gets World Premiere

Families Like YoursFamilies Like Yours, a new documentary “exploring the love, compassion, sacrifice, and success of LGBT families in America,” premiered in New York City yesterday, and will soon make its way to LGBT film festivals and conferences around the world. Watch a trailer.

Rodolfo Moro and Marcos Duszczak, the creative team behind the film, had produced an earlier, award-winning documentary, Familias por Igual, about same-sex parents, their children, and the fight for marriage equality and family rights in Argentina. They’ve now created a second film (in English) that looks at LGBT families in the U.S.:

Families Like Yours follows six families as they attempt to balance work and school, rush kids to sports practice, and deal with diaper duty. From all across the nation and in all different stages of family life, from conception to grandchildren, these families represent a cross-section of the modern American family—the only difference is that they are LGBT families.

The film is a non-profit, and was underwritten by some big names (in addition to the filmmaker’s production company, Dk Realizadores): the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Wells Fargo. Deutsche Bank and Hilton presented the premiere screening last night.

Watch the trailer below, and contact info@nglcc.org if you’d like to screen the whole film near you.
