Posts of the Week: For the Winter Weather

Post of the WeekI’m making a commitment to be more regular with my “Post of the Week” picks, so here are a few posts from some lesbian moms about the cold winter weather many of us have been experiencing lately—and how you and your families have been coping.

  • Steph at All for the Love of You wrote about the “Siberian Train Wreck” of the weather in Maryland, untimely school notifications, trying to stock up in crowded grocery stores, the hassles of Girl Scout camp registration, paying more than expected for shoveling, the derailment of various sporting activities for herself and her kids (in ninth and fourth grade), and a trip to urgent care after a sledding accident. On the plus side, there was another kind of “Siberian Train Wreck”—a comfort food from her college days, which seems to have helped. Anyone else have a week like that?
  • RoiAnn of Are You the Babysitter? wrote in “Water and Light” about going to a public conservatory in the midwest. She shared photos and a thought that was a “ray of sunshine” to her despite gray skies and wind chill.
  • Shelley at But Wait, There’s More gave us several haiku about the winter weather, including “Lake Ice,” and one, two, three unnamed ones.

We didn’t get too much snow here in Massachusetts, but we had more than our fair share last year, so I’m okay with that. How have the rest of you been coping? Anyone from warmer climes want to share tales, too?
