It was a pleasure for me to see names both old and new—including some who have done this all six years now, as well as some who were new to the event, to parenthood, and even to being out.

We each have a unique story to tell, even as we share the common themes of love, family, and acceptance. I encourage you all to read through the posts and find inspiration, insight, and maybe even some new friends.

I will be reading through all the posts myself in the coming days (couldn’t get them all read yesterday and manage the event), and trying to pull out some quotes that caught my eye. You’ve submitted some amazing posts. But don’t wait for me—go read, comment, and enjoy!

Mark it on your calendars, too—same time, next year!

Thanks to all who participated in this year’s Blogging for LGBT Families Day! Below is the master list of contributed posts, which I will continue updating even on June 2, to allow for all timezones and latecomers. (I’m a mom; I understand running late.) Please come back as the list grows!

To submit a post, complete the form at the end of this post. Older posts are welcome, too. If you don’t have a blog of your own (but only then), leave your contribution in a comment.

Please allow some time between submitting a post and its appearance in the list below. I will be updating the list as fast as possible, but new posts may not appear immediately—and there will be a hiatus now until the sun rises on 6/2, as I must get some sleep.

You can also tweet in support of LGBT families and use the hashtag #lgbtfamilies. Your tweets will then appear in the list over in the far-right sidebar. (You can follow the hashtag using your favorite Twitter software, too.)

Please encourage all your friends, LGBT and not, to participate!

After the jump, because the list is getting long: contributed posts, in chronological order:

Tomorrow is the 6th Annual Blogging for LGBT Families Day! I welcome supportive posts on all aspects of LGBT families—but if you’re having trouble coming up with an idea, here are a few to consider:

A personal story about your child(ren)

A story about your own parent(s)

A personal story about an LGBT family you know

A philosophical reflection on what parenting means to you (or why you want to become a parent, if you are not yet one)

If I could change one thing to make my state/country better for LGBT families, it would be. . . .

Something you have in common with a non-LGBT family (if you are LGBT; vice versa if you are not)

A piece of local or national political news/legislation that affects you as a family (for good or bad)

A children’s book or show that reflects an important aspect of your family (family structure, race/ethnicity, values, etc.)

Why you think we need more children’s books/media that reflect a certain aspect of your family

If you could tell the world one thing about your family, it would be. . . .

Just post at your usual blog, and submit the post here to be added to the master list for everyone to see. (You can submit it through the form at the bottom of this post if you have it done already.)

Please grab a banner after the jump and promote the event on your site, Facebook, Twitter, etc. The more people who participate, the more impact our voices will have.

Please download the image(s) you want to your own computer (and then upload them to your blog, Facebook, etc.), rather than link to the image files here. (If I find people are doing that, I will change the image names so old image links won’t work.)

Instructions:

Right-click the image (Mac users: click and hold) and choose “Download image,” “Save image as…” or “Save picture as…” Follow the prompts in the dialogue box to save to your computer.

I hope you’re all setting off to do something fun with your families. I also hope you’re getting ready to post next Wednesday, June 1 for the 6th Annual Blogging for LGBT Families Day!

Save the date: It’s that time of year again! On Wednesday, June 1, I will be hosting the 6th Annual Blogging for LGBT Families Day.
Over the past five years, hundreds of bloggers from around the world have participated, including lesbian moms, gay dads, bisexual parents, transgender parents, adult children of LGBT parents, LGBT individuals without children, and straight allies. Some bloggers told stories about their paths to parenthood, or tales about their children; some wrote about LGBT relatives or friends; others discussed current political events; and several spoke of why their faith obliges them to support LGBT rights. This year’s writings should be equally diverse and compelling.

Here’s how it works:

Blog on a topic related to LGBT families on or before June 1, 2011.

Complete the form at the bottom of this post to submit your entry. I encourage people to post on June 1; I am posting the form now in case anyone really wants to submit something early.

Once again, I am overwhelmed by their variety and thoughtfulness. I’ll be highlighting various posts and themes in the coming days, but I urge you to read through them for yourselves.

As a further way of saying thanks, here’s the last of three giveaways of And Baby Makes More: Known Donors, Queer Parents, and Our Unexpected Families.
For today’s drawing, I’ll pick the winner randomly from all of the people who leave a comment on this post with their answer to the following question:

What’s the one thing you wish someone had told you before you became a parent? OR What’s the one thing you’d like to know before becoming one?

Comments must be left before 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time Thursday, June 3. (That’s 2:59 a.m. Eastern Time, June 4.)

Thanks to Insomniac Press for making this possible.

Full rules and restrictions after the jump.

Rules and restrictions: U.S. and Canada residents only, please. One entry per person. Don’t worry if your comment is moderated; once I approve it, it will appear based on the time you submitted it. Spam comments, including off-topic or purely commercial comments, will not count. If you win any one of the three drawings for this book, you cannot play again. If you are or have been a paying advertiser (or an employee of a paying advertiser) on Mombian, you can’t play.

You must also leave a valid e-mail address with your comment. Don’t leave a postal address, though. If you win, I’ll contact you by e-mail about shipping. I will then share the winner’s name and postal address with the publisher, for the sole purpose of allowing them to mail you your prize.

Only four days to go! On Tuesday, June 1, I will be hosting the 5th Annual Blogging for LGBT Families Day. I hope all of you will participate!

I’m going to leave this post at the top of the page from now until the big day. With the holiday weekend coming up, I figured some of you might want to submit posts early.

Here’s how it works:

Post at your own blog on a topic related to LGBT families on or before June 1, 2010.

Complete the form at the bottom of this post to submit your entry.

If you don’t have a blog (and only then) you may leave your contribution as a comment. If you do have a blog, please submit the post link through the form below.

I’ll compile the posts and highlight them here on June 1. Come back and read the stories and insights of our community and allies.

Any blogger who wants to support LGBT families is welcome, LGBT or not, parent or not. I encourage those who don’t usually post about LGBT families or LGBT issues, as well as those for whom every day is Blogging for LGBT Families Day. Give it a spin based on your usual blog topics. There’s no set formula or format. Photos and videos are also welcome.

Please also grab a banner after the jump and promote the event on your site, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Upload to your blog or Facebook as you would any image.

Link the image to http://www.mombian.com/save-the-date-blogging-for-lgbt-families-day-is-june-1/

Only two weeks to go! On Tuesday, June 1, I will be hosting the 5th Annual Blogging for LGBT Families Day. I hope all of you will participate!

Blog on a topic related to LGBT families on or before June 1, 2010.

Complete the form at the bottom of this post to submit your entry. I encourage people to post on June 1; I am posting the form now in case anyone really wants to submit something early.

The lists of contributions from 2009, 2008, 2007, and 2006 are still online for your perusal.

Please also grab a banner after the jump and promote the event on your site, Facebook, Twitter, etc. The more people who participate, the more impact our voices will have.

Please download the image(s) you want to your own computer (and then upload them to your blog, Facebook, etc.), rather than link to the image files here. (If I find people are doing that, I will change the image names so old image links won’t work.)
