3 Sisters Explain Why their Moms Should Be Able to Marry

Sisters Kinsey, Jillian, and Teagan live in Kentucky with their two moms. They’ve made a wonderful video about why the U.S. Supreme Court should allow their moms to marry.

Last November, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court upheld the bans on marriage for same-sex couples in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee. Although the sisters want to give their moms “the wedding of their dreams” in March, it may not be a legal one. This Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court will have its first opportunity to grant review to the 6th Circuit decision.

Kinsey, according to their blog, The 321, is a freshman at Stanford University and a 12-year cancer survivor. She’s traveled across the U.S. as a motivational speaker and writer, raising over $500,000 for the health charities that saved her life. Jillian is a musician and high school senior, who volunteers at summer camps for kids who have been touched by cancer. Teagan is a singer and actor as well as a student.

Their moms, Karen and Audrey, have been together for 23 years. Karen is President and CEO of a Cancer Support Community in Louisville. Audrey is a retired high school English and German teacher who now works as an SAT and ACT tutor.

In the sisters’ video, “Sanctity,” they talk about the positive things they have gained from having two moms, the harassment they have faced because of their family structure, and the legal inequalities that remain for them. Watch:
