Post of the Week: “Lessons from Infertility”

Post of the WeekAleia Mims’ “Lessons from Infertility,” part of her “Authentically Me” series at her blog l.i.b.e.r.a.t.i.o.n. theory, is this week’s Post of the Week. She writes about her journey from comfort with not being a bio mom, to wanting to conceive with her wife, to her disappointment at not being able to do so.

Her latest attempt at conception, she writes, was “beyond emotionally exhausting. This is forcing me to examine what it is that I hope to get out of pregnancy that I’m struggling with letting go. Maybe this is what this experience is supposed to be leading to—figuring out my ‘root,’ so here I go with trying to unpack it.”

She’s not the only one of us who has been through this process, although it may take a different form for each person. But sharing our stories, “telling the whole truth,” as Aleia puts it, is often a part of it. Thanks to Aleia for sharing her truth.
