I completely understand your reaction Dana because I felt the same way when I read the PR yesterday on Deadline Hollywood. However, as you know, releases like these go through SO MANY channels that who knows who was responsible in the end for such a truncated bio on Gilbert. I know Gilbert is far from closeted like you said, so it's obviously someone else in the chain.

My thought on why this happened - they don't want to start a protesting sh*t storm from maniacal groups, like CWA for instance, before the show gets started. The show tested very well over at CBS so they probably want to keep the profile low so that once it's on the air and it has fans, Gilbert can talk about her family as freely as she wants without the burden of prior protestations hanging over her before the show even airs. Unlike Ellen, who everyone already knew was gay, many people don't know about Gilbert. If she speaks openly, it could surprise a lot of people and bring more curious viewers and more fans and exposure. So there could be many reasons.

In the end, I have faith in Gilbert and her team (not necessarily CBS). Let's just hope they were thinking for the best end result - more exposure of LGBT families.

It's certainly possible Gilbert wrote her own bio, but if so, it would seem pretty odd that she didn't mention Adler. They're not very closeted.

Who is to say Gilbert didn't write the bio herself? I am so excited for the day when sexual orientation-gay or straight- will not seem necessary or important to mention. Ironically enough, we all need to be out and visible in order to make that happen. Who knows, perhaps Gilbert will talk about her family on air.
