  1. Bette – she’s driven and passionate. I was going to say that she doesn’t let her personal life affect her work but that’s not true for any of the characters. :)

  2. Bette, for sure! She’s definitely got the wardrobe for it! She’s intelligent, confident and unafraid to make difficult decisions. She displays a strong will and for the part is a rational individual. Bette 2012!

  3. I love the L word — such a fun show! I can’t wait for the next season. It’s one of the two reasons I pay for Showtime: The L Word and Weeds.

  4. Absolutely Bette! She’s rational, fair, and unwilling to be dissuaded from what she knows is right.

  5. Bette for Pres. with Alice as VP. Bette has the poise and grace along with education. she speaks well and dresses sharply. Above all, she can present and sell her ideas. The time she spent at the CAC proved she has the drive to get the job done. She also has the strong family image.

Alice would be a great VP because she can dig up dirt and attack the opposition. ;)

  6. I think Tasha would make a good president. She understands some of the inner workings of the government. She is able to look beyond what is good for just for herself and do what is good for the whole.

  7. Tasha!!!

1- because she has military experience and has been in the National Guard. She would be the best commander and cheif (and perhaps get rid of that pesky don’t ask don’t tell policy).
2- because she has the strength to fight adversity and stand up for what she believes in.
3- she is in need of a job she loves and could accel at (security guard just doesn’t fit the bill)
    4. she is passionate, smart and gets the needds of the poor and the middle class
5- because everyone else is gonna say Bette

  8. I don’t know why I am continually drawn to this show, and yet I am…Okay, I’ll play. I’m going to nominate Shane for President, because (in the earlier seasons, at least) she acts with integrity and tries to balance the demands of multiple, er, constituents. And when she messes up, she apologizes. Mostly.

Also, it doesn’t hurt for a President to have some charisma.

  9. Alice. She networks like nobody’s business. She has “star power” and is widely and wildly connected. She is tough when she needs to be and tender at all the right times. She isn’t afraid to jump in with both feet when her friends need her. She’s fiercely loyal and dedicated to her causes.

Bette should definetly be her running mate, as Alice will need to have someone like Bette around for. . . ballast.

  10. Phyllis because she has experience running a division of a large university.

(I think my entry may be late b/c I didn’t observe the noon by EST, but am submitting anyway :) )

  11. I think TINA would make a great president because she is smart, dedicated to the right causes and for the most part doesn’t get too emotional and off the deep end! I think she is level-headed and would be able to make good decisions to help all of us (especially lesbian moms)!!! ;-)

  12. i say alice cuz she’s clever and spunky…out those homophobic jocks! and cuz i’ll see her tomorrow night playing in her band, uh huh her.

  13. I’m going to say Dana Fairbanks. Let’s try making government truly hands-off and elect someone who’s dead.

  14. OK, I was going to say Bette (like everyone else) because she does come to mind first, but on second thought, I’d go with Alice. She’s fast, witty, smart, and also quirky and kind. I’d vote for her!

  15. I’ve got to join the chorus for Bette, not because of her ideals or electability, but because she gets things done. She knows how to schmooze, how to work connections, and how to negotiate tricky situations. I think any of the other characters would flounder.

The point about Tina’s grassroots activism is interesting, but I’m still gonna go with Bette.

  16. Bette, absolutely. She’s hyper-organized and knows how to get stuff done. And she sure is good at bossing people around. :-)

  17. I’m going with Kit for the following reasons –

    1. She’s been through tough times and come out ahead.
    2. She runs a successful business.
    3. She’s honest and forthright and doesn’t put up with any bullsh**
    4. She stands up for the little people.

  18. Alice – she knows how to play the media.
    Peggy Peabody has potential too.
Adele could be Sarah Palin to Bette’s Father (only he’s dead) McCain.

  19. Aaand apparently my internet decided to load the comment before I was done. Finishing my previous comment, I’d have to say Dana. If we were to look back at the previous episodes, she had it together, she was active in the worlds eye and she wasn’t afraid to get things done. Ahh, Dana.

  20. Bette Porter is the obvious answer.

    -Ivy League Graduate
    -Great articulating skills
    -Great charisma
-She could build a majority coalition of women and minority voters and also get a lot of ‘white male’ votes based on her good looks :)

  21. Oh! I spaced on Tasha! And I LOVE Tasha, she is my absolute FAVORITE. LOL I must be sleep deprived. Yeah she would kickass as president.
