Before my kids could read, I would make almost any book into a book about lesbian parents! As long as the dad in the book didn’t have a mustache or beard, I would call one parent “Mommy” and the other “Amma” which is what our kids call my partner and me. It works really well when the characters are animals and gender isn’t as obvious. It doesn’t work once the kids can read, but I think it’s really important when they’re little.
