Well, I spent my first several years as a single lesbian parent not even trying to be on the dating circuit. Bleary eyes from chronic sleep deprivation, and a tendency to ask people if they need to go potty before we leave, probably wouldn't have come across as particularly sexy! Never mind finding the time or energy to date. Once I did feel ready to try dating, I think being a parent projected an image of stability and normalcy that was fairly appealing to women interested in settling down themselves. I don't know that it made me seem hot, but luckily, I've found a partner who is quite attracted to me despite the fact that I automatically shove tissues at her whenever she sniffles.

Awww, c'mon. Everyone knows a lesbian milf or two, no? I find women with children extremely sexy! There is a certain selflessness that comes with parenthood that is just so appealing to people who are sick of the pretension of the dating scene.

I'm wondering where being a single dad is "hot" in the gay community - because I'm a single dad (adopted my son a year ago), and just a few weeks ago started looking into the dating scene again...and, I'm pretty sure it's not adding to my "hotness" factor. Maybe that's because I can't go out after 7 PM because my son goes to sleep at 7:30 - I don't know.

I remember that Newsweek cover; my wife and I got together at the beginning of 1993, and then were amazed at how this coincided with a bunch of media reports on relationships like ours.
