The genesis of the book - I believe- comes from the famous story about Hemingway: that he bet that he could (or someone bet him that he couldn't) write a compelling story in six words. His response? "For Sale: Baby shoes. Never worn." Compelling indeed. When I first heard that story, I thought about my own memoir in six words: What a ride we had together!
