It wasn't germane to the overall storyline, since he's an old old single guy. Without it being the point of a whole subplot, it's probably not relevant. But all authors come up with much more about their characters than goes down on paper. I love to find out these kinds of things because it enriches my reading. And you're right, I expect she figured there'd only be further attacks. I haven't seen any yet, but I'm bracing for them.
