[...] The New York Times ran an article on Valentine’s Day about couples where one member is the predominant— and dominating—cook in the household. The story focuses on straight couples, but it made me laugh with recognition. I freely admit to being the “alpha chef” around our house. I think it’s less because of any hidden domestic urges and more because I have a secret desire to be on Iron Chef. [...]

Hi, Aqua. Glad you liked the Iron Chef post. Sorry about the Amazon ad--that ad block is automatically generated by Amazon based on both my site content and the Amazon profile of my reader (which I don't know, but which Amazon can read from the cookies on your computer, if you're an Amazon user). Sometimes they're a little off base....

The individual books I recommend under "For Moms" and "For Kids" are my own picks, though--and I wouldn't put the "Dad" book there.

BRILLIANT!

LOVE iron chef!

LOVELOVELOVE the dead-on IRONCHEF MOMMY episode dialogue!

you're cracking me up! i'm just trying to decide if i'm more offended that the amazon ad on your site is suggesting "Why a Daughter Needs a Dad..." or the fact that the rest of the title says "...A Hundred Reasons" instead of "...One Hundred Reasons."

not that i'm a language scholar, but i just feel upon seeing that it should say "...a hundert reasons..."

That is great! While I don't have any kids, the deftly timed and choreographed moves when both my partner & I are cooking in the small kitchen are equally amusing. I'd love to hear the play by play & color commentary on THAT especially when we leave cabinets & drawers & other things open. I am happy to report that no seriously injuries have been reported yet. Occasionally the 2 cats act like "kids" and become a distraction too. Extra special during the holiday cookie baking spree...

Now I'll have to watch Iron Chef though...
