4. Diaper Genie's have been getting a great deal of criticism because they are even worse for the environmental than other methods. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/55791/ten_reasons_why_you_should_not_buy.html?cat=25

12. "If you’re making the bottle way ahead of time, though, the bubbles will settle." Please check formula instructions or breastmilk storage/prep instructions of careprovider to avoid spoilage.

30. Many careproviders now advise against cleaning the umbilical cord stump with alcohol. New parents may want to ask their care provider about this issue prior to doing so.

[...] I agree that babies need skin-to-skin contact, but I don’t think that all of them need it to be “constant.” Helen and I put our son in his own room after a few days of keeping him in our room in a cradle (a handmade family heirloom; not an expensive purchase). He wasn’t “miserable” and we slept better, even though he was in the next room over and we could hear him when he needed us. I’ve written more on this in my own list of Baby Gear Recommendations. [...]

[...] Mombian includes the practical side of parenting and one such resource is your frugal list of baby gear essentials. We all know that children cost a heck of a lot of money. Are they worth the expense? If I wanted to be flippant, I’d say “Ask me when my son turns 18.” In truth, though, I’ve known from before he was born that it’s not about the money. That’s not to say kids should be overindulged–just that they’re priceless. [...]

or buy nothing but nappies, and see what you need as time goes on. we bought very little and it was much more than we needed. as my midwife said, all babies need is arms for warmth and comfort, and breasts for food. add nappies/diapers to save yourself from getting dirty.
